In the water maze, the animal must learn to find a hidden or flagged
platform it can sit on. In the Barnes maze, the goal is an escape tunnel
connected to one of the peripheral holes. Wintrack treats the goal as
a particular field inside the arena. As such it can be displayed in
the case window along with the animal's path and can be referred to
during data analysis. The size, shape and allowed positions of the goal
are specified using the Arena Properties command. The case document
itself contains information telling Wintrack which of the allowed positions
has been selected for each individual trial. As an alternative, the
goal can also be defined using a custom setup file.
