Analyzing case documents in Wintrack means to define and evaluate
variables. Numerical analysis results are presented in a scrollsheet
where variables are represented by columns. The meaning of the rows
in such a scrollsheet depends on the variable type. For surface variables,
the cells of columns represent rectangular tiles inside a reference
field in the arena. The horizontal and vertical position of the respective
tile are written to the first two columns of the scrollsheet. Each surface
variable is represented by two columns. The first whose name bears the
prefix "v" lists the variable values for each tile. The second
one whose name bears the prefix "n" lists the number of cases
contributing to the corresponding value in the "v" column.
The information in the "n" column permits successive averaging
across cases as they are added to the surface. For example, a surface
variable may report the time spent inside each rectangular tile or the
average speed while traversing it. Surface variables are an advanced
feature of Wintrack and therefore not available from the list of predefined
variables provided by the Analyze
Case Document command. You must define them using a custom variable
definition file.
