Wintrack is not a commercial product. It is permanent work in progress.
In the hands of its author, it is as stable as commercial software.
However, the program is not systematically tested by other users. Therefore,
error free operation is not assured and no
customer support can be provided.
Because it is constantly evolving, Wintrack does not come with a printed
documentation. Instead, it offers a complete online reference
that can be accessed in several ways:
- If you are new to Wintrack, try the online
tutorial. Its 14 lessons provide a step by step introduction
into the basic features and concepts of the program.
- Press Help buttons whenever they are available to obtain
context specific help, for example in all dialog boxes.
- Press the F1 key or select Contents from the Help menu
to see an overview of available help topics. The Help menu also offers
direct access to a selection of frequently needed help pages.
- Watch the tool tips and hints that are displayed in the status
bar while you move the mouse over certain objects or as you carry
out particular actions.
The online reference is identical with the section Looking for reference
information? of the Wintrack web site. As you install the
program, a local duplicate of the whole site is copied to your PC. You
use the Locate Help Home Page command
to instruct Wintrack where to find the home page of the site. You can
choose to obtain help from the local duplicate of the site, or via the
Internet, directly from the Wintrack web site.
