Acquire EthoVision Experiment dialog

How to fill in the dialog box fields...

Fill in the dialog box fields as indicated below. You may also accept presented default values and options. Disregard grayed fields and options. When done, press Ok to continue. Or press Cancel to abort.

rows
Use this number field to indicate how many rows of trials should be displayed at a time in the created case document. A scroll bar will allow to scroll in rows that are out of view.

columns
Use this number field to indicate how many columns of trials should be displayed at a time in the created case document. A scroll bar will allow to scroll in columns that are out of view.

row/session breaks
Use this range field to list all trials which should be displayed on a new row in the created case document.

allow gaps ending at trials
Use this range field to list all trials at which the experiment may resume after skipping a series of trials. This parameter helps to prevent inappropriate "gap ahead", "gap behind", "truncation ahead", "truncation behind", and "trial out of range" error messages during import of data from experiments in which animals typically perform only part of the possible trials, e.g. in training to criterion schedules.

EthoVision workspace or experiment file
Use this file field to specify the name and location of the Noldus™ EthoVision 2.3 workspace file (.EWS) that contains the experiment you want to convert. If you are converting an experiment from the DOS version of EthoVision, instead specify the name and location of the experiment (.EXP) file and Wintrack will look for the arena definition file (.ARN) and all track files in the same folder.

EthoVision experiment name
Use this name field to specify the name of the Noldus™ EthoVision 2.3 experiment you want to convert. This field is not available if you are importing from an EthoVision DOS experiment (.EXP) file.

area scaling factor
This number field is only available if you are importing an EthoVision 2.3 experiment. Use it to specify a scaling factor for the import of object surface area. A value of 1 will import object surface area in pixels. A value of 0.1366 tranforms object surface area to EthoVision DOS pixels.

sampling interval [s]
This number field is only available if you selected an EthoVision DOS experiment (.EXP) file to import from. Use it to indicate the sampling interval at which the data was recorded.

Key map for mutually exclusive behaviors
Use this name field to import behaviors that were recorded with the EthoVision 2.3 manual event recorder using the Mutually Exclusive method. To map them to the Wintrack event keys F1-12 or Space, use the syntax indicated by the following example: groom=F1,rear=F2,off=Space. Please note that the field text must not contain spaces. Behavior names must be identical to the ones defined in EthoVision. Type none if you do not want to import any such behaviors. This field is not available if you are importing from an EthoVision DOS experiment (.EXP) file.

Key map for start/stop behaviors
Use this name field to import behaviors that were recorded with the EthoVision 2.3 manual event recorder using the Start/Stop method. This field works in the same way as the field Key map for mutually exclusive behaviors. It is not available if you are importing from an EthoVision DOS experiment (.EXP) file.
